Man assaults officer during DUI arrest

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man pulled over for reckless driving failed his field sobriety test and then became hostile with a police officer.

Ronald Jones, 46, was spotted by police driving down the middle of the Gene Snyder Freeway around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When the officer pulled him over, he smelled alcohol and marijuana and asked the suspect to get out of his car and perform a sobriety test.

According to the police report, Jones failed the test before becoming disorderly and assaulting the trooper. Police found marijuana in his car on the driver's side floor.

The report also stated his blood alcohol content was .120, about one and half times the legal limit.

Jones was charged with reckless driving, DUI first, second degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and third degree assault of a police officer.
