(Louisville, KY) New University of Kentucky head football coach, Mark Stoops told a group of UK Alumni in Louisville that he and his coaching staff plan on turning things around in the football program.
Speaking at the annual UK Alumni Club Luncheon at the Kentucky International Convention Center, Stoops said his program is here to stay. "We wanted to let people know up here in Louisville that Kentucky's here, and we're not messing around, and we're here to recruit the best players in the country," said Stoops. While the excitement around Stoops' hiring is at a fever pitch, the fans say they will be patient.
This year's team is expected to struggle, but the fans say they understand, and will give the new staff to develop the program. "tough schedule, but what he's doing with the recruits is what's energizing everybody right now," said Mark Smith. Longtime UK fan, Susan Tyler Witten says, "of course he's gotta win games, but I think his record speaks for itself, and it's just been a home run".
