A three-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries, after being struck by a car around 8 p.m. on Friday, is expected to survive.
Police tell CBS 3 the incident, which happened at the Beaudoin Village apartment complex, appears to be nothing more than a tragic accident.
They said the child jumped out from between two parked cars, and the driver had little time to react. While the case remains under investigation, police said it does not appear the driver will face any charges.
CBS 3 media partner, Mass Live and The Republican, reported that the boy suffered a fractured skull, a collapsed lung, and rib and leg wounds as a result of the incident.
He was taken to Holyoke Medical Center by a private vehicle.
