ELIZABETH, IN (WAVE) - A horse rescue that is struggling to operate is sending a horse on the road to help raise money.

Harrison County's Buck Creek Valley Rescue has faced some hardships and needs all the support it can get to continue taking care of abused and neglected horses.

Richard Mills, the rescue's owner, will be riding a horse named Willie from the Falls of the Ohio to Great Falls, Montana. Willie is a 6-year-old Tennessee Walker who arrived at the rescue in 2012 after being severely abused by being hit in the head with 2 x 4's. He is now living his life as a healthy horse who loves people.

You can follow Willie and Richard's 2,800 mile ride by going to the Buck Creek Valley Rescue's Facebook page.

Contributions to help Buck Creek continue can be mailed to Ride to Rescue Buck Creek, 4700 Shewmaker Lane S.E., Elizabeth, IN 47117.
