LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville's latest homicide victim was just a teenager.

17-year-old Darius Miller Jr. was shot around 12:30 a.m. near 35th and Broadway. Louisville Metro Police Spokesperson Alicia Smiley said the victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, not by EMS.

According to the coroner, he died of a single gunshot wound at 5:10 Sunday morning at University Hospital.

The family of Darius Miller Jr. said he was a Waggener High School student, employed at McDonald's and the new father of an 8-month-old girl.

His girlfriend, Leviathan Samuels said, "It's going to be hard. My daughter has got to grow up without a father."

Darius, who was affectionately known as 'Man-Man,' will be remembered by his family and friends as a respectable young man, who had a good heart and loved to play sports.

Homicide detectives were able to develop information for an arrest warrant in connection with the shooting, leading to the arrest of Kyle Chambers in Dubois County, IN, where he is currently being held. Chambers is a resident of Huntingburg, IN.

Joyce Bender, the victim's grandmother said, "I don't know what's wrong, what's going on down here but it needs to stop because a life was just taken that didn't have to be."
