Katy Morgan to tap the first keg at Oktoberfest

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

FOX19's Morning Meteorologist Katy Morgan has been selected as this year's honorary mayor of the Germania Society.

Katy is this year's Bürgermeisterin; that means female mayor in German.

Katy will kick off her duties when she taps the first keg at Germania's Oktoberfest on Saturday, August 24.

Katy has been tasked with celebrating her German heritage and making sure everyone has a great time.

"I'm thrilled to be chosen as this year's Bürgermeisterin," Katy said. "I've been to every Germania Society Oktoberfest since moving to Cincinnati, and it is truly my favorite festival in the Tri-State."

Katy will also lead the children in the Christkindlmarkt during a lantern parade in November.

Katy is getting a brand new dirndl for the occasion that the Germania Society is having brought in from Germany. She will be debuting the new dirndl on the morning news on Wednesday, August 21.

This will be the Germania Society's 43rd annual Oktoberfest.
