LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Law enforcement officers recovered a juvenile and arrested a pimp in Las Vegas as part of a three-day federal takedown of child sex trafficking across the country.

Under Operation Cross Country, the Federal Bureau of Investigation carried out prostitution stings in cities beginning Friday, according to the FBI Las Vegas Division spokesperson Bridget Pappas.

In addition, Pappas said 41 adult prostitutes were apprehended in the operation carried out locally by Las Vegas Metro police's Vice Enforcement Team and the Innocence Lost Task Force, which is made up of members from the FBI and LVMPD.

The FBI Las Vegas Division also reported a juvenile was recovered in Reno as part of a sting there. Two pimps and 12 prostitutes were arrested.

Nationally, a total of 105 children were recovered in the operation and 159 pimps face state federal charges.

The FBI said, to date, more than 2,700 children have been recovered in various child prostitution takedowns.

"Child prostitution remains a persistent threat to children across America," said Ron Hosko, assistant director of the FBI's Criminal Investigative Division. "This operation serves as a reminder that these abhorrent crimes can happen anywhere, and the FBI remains committed to stopping this cycle of victimization and holding the criminals who profit from this exploitation accountable."
