ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) - Elizabethtown police are warning residents to beware of collection calls from a man claiming to represent Kentucky Utilities.
According to the department's Facebook page, the man is not affiliated with KU, but he identifies himself as an LG&E employee.
The Elizabethtown Police Department reminds individuals to not give out personal information over the phone unless they initiate the call. Anyone who receives a call from KU should ask for the name of the person with whom they are speaking and then contact KU to verify the person's identity and the reason for the call.
Kentucky Utilities is aware of the issue, according to the EPD Facebook post.
