LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An arrest has been made in the early morning stabbing of a teen in south Louisville.

A 911 call came in around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning along Lewis Way and Flowervale Lane, located off of Dixie Highway, south of the Gene Snyder Freeway. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying in the road with stab wounds.

Later in the day on Wednesday, LMPD arrested Damien McLean, 21, and charged him with first degree assault.

Police said the victim, a 19-year-old man, was stabbed outside a house on Dutschke Road close to where they found him in the street. Officers located McLean on Dutschke Road shortly after responding to the scene.

According to officers, it is thought the victim got into a fight with McLean before it escalated to the stabbing.

Jim Owens lives across the street from where officers found the victim lying on the ground. He said, "It's kind of disturbing because we've never seen any problems around here of that nature. People may  get into an argument, not even fist fights, just hollering to neighbors sometimes."

Despite conflicting reports saying the victim died, an LMPD spokeswoman said the person is at University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains there in critical condition.
