CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

UC Magazine reports that the first 8,000 fans ages 14 and younger will receive a copy of a children's book written by a UC graduate at the August 11 Reds game.

Joel Altman, a UC alumnus and former FBI officer, depicts life behind-the-scenes of Gapper, the mascot of the Reds in "Gapper's Grand Tour: A Voyage Through the Great American Ball Park."

Altman has been a Reds fan since a toddler, and contacted the organization to publish a book chronicling the team's history for children.

In the beginning the Altman was uneasy that the organization would not publish his book; however, Karen Fogus, the vice-president of business operations, became excited about the idea within the first five minutes of their business meeting.

The Reds supported Altman and "Mr. Redlegs and His Great Adventure" was published in August 2012. The long-time fan was able to toss out a first pitch and met some of the player who had copies of his book.

Altman's newest title is the fourth of a series about Reds history. He is currently working on a book for a local nonprofit that highlights on giving hope to underprivileged children.
