LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man on weapons charges after he was found with a handgun near the scene of an earlier shooting.
According to an arrest report, a member of the U.S. Marshal's Service stopped Demonta A. Cotham in the 700 block of Logan Street on July 31. Cotham was found to have a .40 caliber Glock in a front pocket of his pants.
A short time earlier, police had been called to the area after a man was shot in the back. The SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded after it was thought the shooter was inside a nearby home. No one was found inside the home.
Cotham, 25, was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on a charge of carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Cotham has not been charged in the shooting, but admitted that he fired a shot at an unknown man.
