LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A social media tool was used to give people a rare look inside of an operating room on Thursday.

Kimberly Underhill, a former nurse, underwent surgery on a brain aneurysm at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital and the staff took to Twitter posting videos, photos and updates of the procedure.

According to the hospital, the surgery performed on Underhill by Dr. Shervin R. Dashti was untreatable a few years ago, but is now able to be performed using the Pipeline Embolization Device.

As Dr. Dashti implanted the device across the aneurysm in Underhill's neck the steps of the procedure were imbedded online using the hashtag #NortonORLive.

The latest tweet from the hospital claimed the surgery was a success, "@kimmy_underhill doing great in recovery."
