Jefferson County Board of Education files lawsuit concerning buses

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The Jefferson County Board of Education filed a lawsuit against a company that sold the Jefferson County Public School system hundreds of buses.

According to the lawsuit filed Friday, JCBE claims several problems occurred in nearly 400 buses purchased from Navistar International between 2005 and 2011.

The problems listed in the lawsuit include widespread failures of exhaust gas recirculation coolers, melting of wiring connectors, power surges, premature corrosion in the bodies of the buses resulting in damage to step wells, wheels, fuel tanks and bumpers, broken doors along with floor joists and sills that crack and separate from the bus frame.

The media spokesperson for Navistar International, Inc., Steve Schrier, responded to the lawsuit and said, "As a matter of policy, Navistar International does not comment on pending litigation."
