TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Two months after 1-year-old Elaina Steinfurth went missing, police and family members continue their search for her.
"I figured they'd find her in a couple days, but that's our luck," said Elaina's grandfather Terry Steinfurth.
A couple of days turned into a couple of months, and there's been no sign of the little girl.
"If you'd told me it'd happen to begin with, I wouldn't have believed it," said Elaina's father TJ. "But I definitely wouldn't have thought two months later, we'd still be, basically, the same place we were two months ago."
Elaina's mother Angela and her ex-boyfriend Steven King are both behind bars and being charged with obstruction of justice in the case. The Steinfurths say that is their only hope for answers.
"Those are the only people that can know, for sure know, what happened," TJ said. "I just want to know. They need to tell me."
TJ says it's the unknown that hurts the most.
"My oldest daughter, she definitely has her moments and she definitely misses her sister," he said. "Not knowing what to tell her, or how to explain – how do you explain like that to a 4-year-old girl? You can't."
The family continues to search for Elaina on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
There will be a poker run fundraiser Saturday, August 3 to raise money. The ride is being put on by the AMVETS Riders Chapter 222 and will take place at the AMVETS post at 4133 N. Summit St. in Toledo. Registration begins at 11 a.m., with the first bike heading out at noon. The ride should end around 3 p.m.
The cost to participate is $15 per driver and $5 per passenger, with the price including a BBQ chicken meal. The price for the meal alone is $7.
