Man charged with spray painting home of ex

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Valley Station man was caught with the evidence on his hands after the home of his ex-girlfriend was vandalized with spray paint.

An arrest warrant states the incident was discovered by the homeowner at 3 p.m. August 2 after she came home and found profanity in white paint on her home, garage door and privacy fence.

A short time later, the homeowner found Ronald J. Ballard, 53, on a path near her home. The warrant says Ballard was intoxicated and denied any involvement, but had white paint on his hands.

After she took photos of Ballard's hands, the woman called Louisville Metro Police. Ballard was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.

Once in custody Ballard stated he was having chest pains and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police say Ballard left the hospital.

Ballard was arrested on August 3 at his home and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on a charge of criminal mischief.

The damage to the home and is estimated to be more than $1,000.
