LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man charged with murder after allegedly asking for help to move a victim's body pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Tuesday.

According to court documents, Joseph Duncan, 54, was charged with murder in the death of Debra Ann Clark, 53, who was found in the 1700 block of Dixdale Avenue at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses told police Duncan asked for help to move Clark who had visible injuries and blood on her body. Duncan admitted he moved her in a friend's car to his apartment, almost four miles away.

Police reported Duncan did not seek medical treatment for Clark and was the last person to see her alive before someone found her body in his bed. When police questioned Duncan, he had Clark's cell phone on his person. Around 10 p.m. Sunday, her death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.

Duncan was assigned a public defender during his arraignment and is being held in Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $1 million full cash bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on August 16.

According to Deputy Coroner Ann Rhodes, funeral arrangements for Clark are pending.
