Granny Fearing’s Bread Pudding Balls and Bourbon Carmel Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

4-5 day old sweet rolls or doughnuts, set out to dry
1 cup of good French bread, cubed
2 cups of milk
3 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla

Sauce:
½ cup of bourbon, flammed
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ stick of butter

DIRECTIONS:

Cut up pastries. Place in bowl with French bread.  Mix in eggs, milk and vanilla and stir until doughy.

Roll into 2 inch balls and place on parchment covered baking sheet. Bake at 350° until crusty on outside and moist on inside. Keep warm while making sauce.

Sauce: Flame bourbon and mix with brown sugar, powdered sugar and butter and heat in a sauce pan until creamy. Drizzle over pudding balls and serve immediately.
