Volunteers work to repair Wounded Warrior's home

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Final touches are all that remain before a wounded warrior can move his family back home.

Sergeant John Gatz suffered from a traumatic brain injury while serving in Afghanistan and when he returned home he discovered his home was filled with poisonous mold.

Dozens of organizations, including UPS and the VFW have made it their mission to make Gatz's house liveable again and Friday they said they're in the final stretch.

Sgt. Gatz said, "I know there's people out there like them. I'm just very grateful that they're coming. It's not so hard to get them here. They hear the word, the word's getting out and they're there for us and there for everybody."

The Gatz family could move in by mid August.
