Casino's blunder leads to multiple $1 million winners

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A blunder by Cincinnati's Horseshoe Casino has given two men a $1 million grand prize.

The casino, which opened five months ago, had just awarded its second million dollar prize to Cincinnati resident Kevin Lewis during its $3 Million Summer Giveaway promotion.  The elated winner collected his prize, spoke to media and accepted well wishes from fellow guests.

However, following the celebrations, the casino realized it had made a blunder. During their final verification check, casino leadership discovered that a second Cincinnati resident with the same winning name, Kevin Lewis, was the true winner of the drawing.

"This was our blunder," said Horseshoe Cincinnati Senior Vice President and General Manager Kevin Kline. "So, consistent with our commitment to do the right thing for our guests, Horseshoe awarded a $1 million dollar prize to each of the men."

Kevin Lewis and Kevin Lewis join Cincinnati resident Reatha Jenkins, who won $1 million on July 20, as Southwest Ohio's newest millionaires.  A fourth and final $1 million winner will be crowned on Sunday, Sept. 1.
