LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - "Drive sober or get pulled over." That's the message law enforcement officials are spreading across Kentuckiana during a campaign to crack down on driving under the influence.
Officials in Kentucky and Indiana are stepping up patrols for the program which launches Friday and runs through the Labor Day holiday.
TARC and Mothers Against Drunk Driving are also part of the effort as Kentucky saw more than 5,700 alcohol-related crashes in 2012.
Lois Windhorst with M.A.D.D. said, "Every police officer that is here, each time they make a stop, they have just saved a life. They have just saved someone from going through what we all have experienced."
Brown-Forman, Cityscoot and Yellow Cab will offer more than 2,000 safe ride vouchers at select locations during the campaign.
