ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – On July 25, 2013 we passed the cash to Carol Engle, a grandmother who cares for her 14-year-old grandson diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Carol was trying to save enough money to provide her grandson Chad with a room equipped with a handicap accessible bathroom since she can no longer lift him out of his wheelchair.
Thanks to her community hearing her story Carol said donations started coming in! "I'm so thankful for you and Amanda and all the people, WAVE 3, the community, the viewers that saw it."
"I can't hardly contain it. I can't hardly, you know, it's just tears of joy," she said.
Carol said after the story aired contractors began calling her and electricians volunteered all of the electrical needs, "We had over 400 labor hours volunteered last week on just this project."
For every hand, for every heart, for every dime, dollar and thought sent their way carol and Chad said they are, "blessed, blessed, overjoyed at all the community."
