JCPS working to avoid school bus confusion

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Summer break is coming to an end for JCPS students and that mean kids will soon be getting up early to catch the school bus.

Hoping to avoid some of the first day of school bus confusion, JCPS has opened a bus hotline to answer parents busing questions.

Three years ago, bus confusion led to serious delays in getting students home.

Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens said with new GPS technology, district officials will be able to locate a child's bus in real time if a parent calls looking for them.

More than 65,000 students are expected to ride hundreds of buses on Tuesday.

Parents can call 485-RIDE for any busing questions.

485-RIDE is open:

Monday, August 19, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday, August 20, 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Wednesday, August 21, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
