LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Renovations are underway at the Jefferson Street Baptist Center.

Monday the center began a $175,000 renovation on their bathroom and laundry facilities.

Each year the center provides 16,000 toiletry kits, 11,000 loads of laundry and showers to people living on the streets.

"We're blessed to be in a situation," said Jefferson St. Baptist Center Executive Director Phil Schultz, "We just pray we will be able to minister to more of the homeless in Louisville."

Organizers hope this is just the beginning of a $900,000 renovation project which will culminate in providing housing for 100 people per night.
