LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - About 102,000 Jefferson County Public School students headed back to class on Tuesday for the 2013-14 school year. The district is sharpening its focus to make students more college- and career-ready than ever.
"The big goal is increased learning and increased student achievement. That's what we exist for," said JCPS Superintendent Donna Hargens. "A lot of it is about intervening when a student doesn't know something."
Hargens said teachers will design strategies for struggling students to help fill those gaps in knowledge.
