Smith County fire burns more than five acres near Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, TX (KLTV) -

Multiple fire crews from Smith County responded to a forest fire Tuesday night near Chapel Hill.

The fire started burning in the woods near the 11000 block of FM 2767. Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton confirms the fire destroyed a small shed building, and burned through a little more than five acres.

The fire started in the shed, but no one was hurt.

Seaton says a Smith County Sheriff's deputy also responded to the scene because of a reported argument between the land owner and another man.

The Winona, Chapel Hill, Jackson Heights, and Red Springs fire departments were all called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
