BULLITT COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - Property taxes will go up in Bullitt County after a 3-2 vote by the Bullitt County School Board Monday night.

Bullitt County School Board Chair Tim Wiseheart said, "It's a real difficult decision, because not only do we have duty to the students, which is what we're here for, to educate these kids and try to give them every opportunity, but we've also got a duty to our community to be good stewards of their tax dollars."

The tax increase goes into effect immediately from 59.6 cents per $100 of assessed property value, to 61.8 cents per $100 of assessed property value, an increase of about 2.2 percent.
