LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person has died in after an accident involving four vehicles that closed a section of LaGrange Road near the Gene Snyder Freeway in eastern Louisville Metro.

According to MetroSafe, the accident happened at 12:09 p.m. on LaGrange Road just west of the Snyder. Involved in the crash are a dump truck, a car, a pickup truck and a delivery vehicle from DHL.

Officer Carey Klain, a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson, said witnesses have told police the green Toyota Camry involved in the crash was exiting the Snyder with a green light and making a left turn onto LaGrange Road. According to Klain, the witnesses said the dump truck, which was heading eastbound, appeared to accelerate in an attempt to try and make the light which was already red for LaGrange Road traffic.

The dump truck struck the Camry on the drivers' side and sent the vehicle across several lanes of traffic striking the DHL delivery vehicle and a white pickup truck.

The woman driver of the Camry was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The drivers of the DHL truck and the dump truck were also taken to UofL Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released.
