LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Several students were treated for minor injuries after a Jefferson County Public Schools bus was involved in an accident with a car in the Russell neighborhood.
According to MetroSafe, the accident happened at 2:40 p.m. at 26th and Chestnut. JCPS officials said a car ran a red light and hit the front of bus 0527. The bus was carrying 30 students from Liberty High School at the time of the accident.
According to a JCPS representative, the contact between the two vehicles was very minor< The driver of the car exchanged insurance information with the school bus driver and left the scene.
The number of students taken to the hospital varies. JCPS said four students were taken for treatment. A Louisville Metro police officer at the scene told WAVE 3 News 10 were taken to the hospital.
Bus 0527 was able to take the remaining students to their homes.
