Wednesday's high temperature reached 95° which made it the hottest day this summer.
Because of what we call the "urban heat island effect," city centers around the FOX19 viewing area easily were around the 100° mark.
Wednesday was also the 7th time we made it to or surpassed 90° this year.
During an average year, the temperature reaches 90° in Cincinnati 19 times. This year, we are way below the average number.
Last year was a very warm one, with 45 days at 90° or hotter. Six of those in 2012 were 100° or hotter.
What a difference a year can make!
The greatest number of 90° or hotter days Cincinnati has ever experienced was 64 in the hot Dust Bowl year of 1936. That year we had the greatest number of 100°+ days in Cincinnati history with 12. Yikes.
