CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

It was an emotional scene at the Justice Center Friday.

After four days of deliberations the jury returned with a verdict in retired Cleveland Police Officer Dale Edwards' murder trial.

Both sides exploded as the verdict of not guilty was read three times. Dale Edwards not guilty of the aggravated murder, not guilty of murder, and not guilty of aggravated assault.

Edwards broke down in tears, hugging his attorney Roger Synenberg and John Carson.

Laura Graves, the mother of Antoine Graves the man Edwards shot broke down as well, crying out he killed my baby -- he killed my baby.

Edwards shot Graves after an argument over a leaky furnace in an Edwards' property that Antoine rented. Graves was also Edwards nephew.

During the trial Edwards made a claim of self defense, the jury obviously agreed that the shooting was in self defense.
