5-year-old Indian Orchard boy struck by car while on scooter

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A 5-year-old boy was taken to Baystate Medical Center after police told CBS 3 he was side-swiped by a car Saturday evening.

The incident happened on Pinevale Street in Indian Orchard.

Police said the boy was on a scooter and darted out from between parked cars.

He suffered some abrasions to his elbows and bruising to his cheek, but the injuries are not considered life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation with the Springfield Police Department's Traffic Bureau.

    One local business is an eyesore for many of its neighbors.  The Dollar Tree store on Allen Street in Springfield has neighbors upset because of the constant trash around the building. The trash problem has gotten so bad that the city of Springfield is planning to file with the courts to enforce the city ordinances.
