BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A 7-year-old boy is dead after his bicycle collided with a Jeep in Batavia on Sunday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that Evan Geer, 7, was riding a bicycle westbound on Wood Street around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

As Geer was traveling, a 2002 Jeep Wrangler driven by 43-year-old Melissa Maloney was traveling southbound on 5th Street.

Investigators believe that Geer struck the Jeep at the intersection of 5th and Wood Street.

Geer was flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and passengers inside of the vehicle were not injured.

Initial reports indicated that the boy was six; however, a family member confirmed with FOX19 that the Geer was seven and would be celebrating his eighth birthday next week.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Ohio Highway Patrol – Batavia Post.
