Ordinance to hold adults accountable for underage drinking dead before vote

SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A measure to make adults responsible for underage drinkers on their property never even made it to a vote in the Bullitt County Fiscal Court.

Tuesday night, the court was set to consider a Social Host ordinance—which would fine adults for underage drinkers found partying or using drugs on their property.

Several people spoke out against it during the meeting and the ordinance never made it on the table.

It aimed to crack down on underage alcohol and drug use by holding property owners responsible, even if he or she had not consented to the party happening at his or her home. It would have fined the owners $500 as well as an additional $25 for every minor found in attendance.

Bullitt County officials and residents WAVE 3 News spoke with before the meeting expected the measure to pass, but it was met with strong resistance.
