LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Inside the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, Jennifer Ansari spoke out to WAVE 3 News one-on-one. The 37-year-old mother from Fishers, Indiana wanted to share her side of what prompted the Amber Alert that led to her September 4 arrest.

"I've always been with her," began Ansari referring to her eight-year-old daughter, Sophia Snow. "There was nothing like she was with her dad and I abducted her. Her dad lives in Florida."

Ansari said last Thursday, after learning a Hamilton County Indiana judge had granted custody of Snow to Snow's father out-of-state, she decided the pair would take a trip to Louisville Friday.

"It was a holiday weekend," said Ansari. "I had just found out bad news and I had my parents for support."

Indiana State Police issued an AMBER Alert Tuesday. The following day, Louisville Metro Police arrested Ansari on the Indiana arrest warrant for custodial interference.

On September 5, Ansari appeared before Jefferson County District Court Judge David Bowles. In court, she agreed to be taken back to Indiana to face the above felony charge.

"I want to cry," said Wanda Wagner, Ansari's mother. "This is not the kind of life that we've lived."

Wagner sat through Thursday's court proceedings and watched as Ansari entered and left the courtroom shackled at the wrists.

"She knows she [did was] wrong but she was only trying to protect her family," said Wagner.

Wagner maintained Ansari's actions were done bearing her grand-daughter's best interest in mind, but expressed concern over what the future would hold for her daughter and granddaughter.

Ansari will remain lodged in Louisville until she is extradited back to Indiana.
