LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Inspections of the three bridges that carry traffic from Louisville across the Ohio River into southern Indiana will impact drivers this week.

Engineers with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will perform walk-through inspections of the Interstate 65 John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge, the Interstate 64 Sherman Minton Bridge and the US 31 George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge (2nd Street Bridge) on Monday and Tuesday, forcing lane and sidewalk closures.

Meanwhile, work on the new Milton-Madison Bridge on Wednesday should not cause additional disruptions.

Monday, September 9:

  • Kennedy Bridge – The right lane will be closed on northbound I-65 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Tuesday, September 10:

  • Sherman Minton Bridge – The right lane will be closed in each direction on I-64 from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
  • Clark Memorial Bridge – Engineers will perform an inspection utilizing the sidewalks on the bridge from 1to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, September 11:

  • US 421 Milton-Madison Bridge – Engineers will utilize the shoulder closures already in place for construction of the new bridge from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and inspection personnel are on the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

The starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.
