LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Left inside a car in a hospital parking lot Tuesday, according to an arrest report, a 5-year-old child was being punished.
A deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested Richard Gramlich, 49, of Louisville after he allegedly told the deputy he left the child inside a car for 45 minutes. The temperature was 91 degrees and the heat index neared 100.
The man reportedly said he did it as punishment for the child not wearing a seat belt.
Witnesses at Baptist East Hospital alerted the deputy. When approaching Gramlich, according to the arrest report, the suspect said: "Good. You can explain why he is bad."
Sweating heavily, the child was rushed into the Baptist East emergency room.
Gramlich is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
