MILLVALE, OH (FOX19) -

More than 70 elementary school students at Ethel M. Taylor Academy received free bicycles on Thursday for passing the Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAA).

Students in grades 3-5 who passed got a brand new bike and helmet. Ethel Taylor gave away close to $10,000 in prizes to reward students.

The money came from the Soaring Hawks Foundation, an organization set up for the school and a matching grant for Union Savings Bank. The bikes were purchased at Target, who offered to assemble them free of charge.

In addition, Cincinnati Children's Hospital donated helmets to all 72 students receiving the bikes.

Queen City Bike, the Cincinnati Police, Children's Hospital, Union Savings Bank, Groundwork Cincinnati and CPS Safe Routes to School all attended the "Bike Rodeo"on Thursday.

Experts taught the students bike safety and safe places to ride their new bikes in the neighborhood.
