LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Ballard High guard Quentin Snider, a former UofL commit, announced his new college choice on Thursday night.
"Where I am going to go is the University of Illinois," Snider said.
After reopening his recruitment, Snider heard from schools all over the country. "When I started, I thought it was all cool and stuff, I mean how coaches were calling, like the Izzo call was pretty nice," Snider said. "All the big schools were calling. Then after like a week it just got tiring and stuff. I just wanted to narrow it down to seven, then that's when I narrowed down to two, and that's when I made my decision."
He picked the Illini over UCLA.
Scott Snider, Quentin's dad, was happy to keep him a little closer to home. "The one thing I did like about him going to a Big Ten school is that the tournament is going to rotate from Chicago to Indianapolis every year, and I knew that would be a good opportunity to go up there and spend some time and enjoy the tournament with him."
"As they started to do their homework and as they started to get to know the coaching staff, they realized it probably was the best fit for them," Ballard head coach Chris Renner said.
Snider cannot officially sign a letter of intent with Illinois until November.
