Richie Farmer pleads guilty to corruption charges

FRANKFORT, KY (WAVE) - Former UK basketball star and Kentucky agriculture commissioner Richie Farmer admitted in federal court Friday that he misappropriated public resources during his time in office.

Farmer, who served two terms as state agriculture commissioner from January 2004 until January 2012, plead guilty to two of the five counts of theft.

It is now in a judge's hand whether or not to accept the plea agreement: 21 to 27 months of sentencing, 1 year supervised release, no fine and $120,500 in restitution. Farmer will also be a convicted felon.
