Two people are dead following a two-car collision in Holyoke early Sunday morning.
The incident happened at the intersection of Beech and Dwight Streets just before 2 a.m.
The Holyoke Police Department told CBS 3 that the two cars involved were a black 2010 Honda Civic and a white 1997 Cadillac Seville.
According to police, there were four people inside the Civic and the "jaws of life" were needed to help remove the victims from the car.
Two of the victims, a 23-year-old male and a 23-year-old female, were pronounced dead.
The other two occupants, a 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old male, were taken to Baystate Medical Center and are listed in stable condition.
Police had to search for the Cadillac. They said the investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Lopez, 21, of Springfield.
Lopez faces several charges, including two counts of Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation and five counts of leaving the scene of personal injury or death.
The crash remains under investigation by the Holyoke Police and State Police Crash Units.
