A fire has claimed the lives of five young children and a father in Tiffin. Now a mother is left to cope, but she's not alone. The local community is rallying behind the family in a big way.
Tiffin Police say 25-year-old Timothy Fresch, 6-year-old Tiara Angel, 5-year-old Stormie Huey, 4-year-old Trinity Huey, 3-year-old Sunshine Huey and 2-year-old Domonic Fresch all died in the fire at Highland Trailer Park on South Sandusky Street.
According to police, 911 dispatchers received a call around 7:45 a.m. Sunday saying the mobile home was on fire. When fire crews arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. All the victims were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police say an autopsy will be done on all six victims to determine a cause of death.
A memorial has been set up by the community outside the home with balloons, teddy bears and signs. The Burger King on West Market Street, where mother Anna Angel has worked for seven years, has started accepting donations for funeral costs.
Manager Pat Boes took the phone call from police about the fire. She says Angel is understandably still in shock and disbelief, and doesn't know how to even relate to that pain.
"I really struggled with it. I could not imagine feeling that times six. I thought about that with Anna. That's what I felt three years ago losing my dad. Six times all in one day, and then your home, and your personal items, everything...I couldn't imagine," said Boes.
Grave plots have been donated for all six of the deceased. Family members have bought them burial clothes.
There will be a candlelight vigil at Tiffin Police and Fire All Patriots Memorial to remember the victims Friday night at dusk or 9 p.m., whichever is first. People are asked to bring their own candles to the vigil, if able. A jar will be at the vigil for those who wish to donate. Money will be placed in the fund set up at U.S. Bank.
A local tattoo artist is setting up a poker run in the upcoming weeks.
Washington Elementary School officials say the tragedy was so sudden that they are still working to get grief counselors and a memorial set up for Tiara and Stormie.
Crystal Clark is following this story and will have more information about how neighbors and family are coping, plus what's happening at Tiara and Stormie's school in her live reports tonight on WTOL 11 News starting at 5.
