Man accused of pawning grandmother's jewelry

JEFFERSONTOWN, KY (WAVE) – A Taylorsville man has been charged with receiving stolen property after thousands of dollars in jewelry belonging to his grandmother turned up in area pawn shops.

According to Jeffersontown police, James Alexander Wehrley, 21, pawned numerous pieces of jewelry at pawn shops in Louisville and Shelbyville.

After being advised of his rights, Wehrley admitted to police that he pawned the items, but denied stealing them.

Wehrley was arrested September 13 and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.
