LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man was pulled over for almost hitting a police cruiser but once on the side of the road, officers were more concerned about what—and who—was in his car.

According to LMPD, Eliyahu Perkins, 19, was talking on his cell phone when he pulled out of a parking lot and nearly hit a cop car. When the officer attempted to pull him over, an arrest report indicates he drove for about two minutes until stopping on Klondike Lane near Hikes Lane in Hikes Point Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m.

The officer reported Perkins had no driver's license and there was an open alcohol container in plain sight in the car. A K-9 officer was requested to come to the scene to conduct a search. According to police, an electronic scale used for measuring marijuana was retrieved from the center console of the car.

Perkins faces more charges because he had two children in the car with him—an infant and a three year old who was not in a proper car seat.

In total, he was arrested for careless driving, failing to stop, not having a driver's license, drug paraphernalia, an open alcohol container and an improper child restraint device.
