Theo Keith Theo Keith

Theo Keith joined WAVE 3 News in August 2013. He covers Kentucky and Louisville politics, including the Kentucky General Assembly, Metro Council, and election campaigns, plus general assignment news.

Prior to arriving in Louisville, Theo was the lead nightside reporter for WISC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin.

While he was working at WISC-TV he covered the historic recall of Wisconsin's governor and Janesville native Paul Ryan's candidacy for vice president. His reporting went beyond the stump speeches to reveal Ryan's hometown was recovering from the recession with federal stimulus dollars the candidate railed against.

Theo's investigative reporting earned a reputation in Madison. He won a regional Edward R. Murrow award by going undercover to show panhandlers could earn $36 an hour in the street. He found how only 14 people were responsible for checking the state's gas pumps and price scanners — something lawmakers later voted to change. When a nearby oil pipeline burst, Theo dug into the at-fault company's inspection records.

Previously, Theo spent more than two years patrolling the halls of the Missouri State Capitol for KMOX-AM, the CBS radio station in St. Louis, and KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. His work included two investigations into Governor Jay Nixon's travel records, leading the state legislature to limit Nixon's travel power.

Theo graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in journalism and political science. Originally from Saginaw, Michigan he enjoys talking about cars and Big Ten sports, including his beloved Michigan State Spartans. You might also find him on the golf course searching for his long-lost putting stroke, or in the kitchen developing his cooking skills.
