Police find drug trafficking operation near school

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two men have been charged with drug trafficking near a school.

According to arrest reports, Louisville Metro Police arrested Shane Douglas Hayes, 22, and John Quinton Feather, 21, at 9:15 p.m. September 17 at a home in the 9600 block of Shoshone Way.

Police said they were conducting a narcotics investigation at the home of Hayes when Feather arrived. Hayes, who was on home incarceration, gave detective permission to search the home. Officers found eight small bags and one large of marijuana, along with a scale. Feather told police the marijuana was his and he was the one selling it.

Because the house was near Johnsontown Elementary, Hayes and Feather were both arrested on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. Each man was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

A third person was also arrested at the residence. Police said Tyler L. Bailey, 20, drive up to the home on a scooter that had been stolen.

Bailey was charged with receiving stolen property.

All three men were booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.
