LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart signed autographs and talked with fans at the J.D. Byrider dealer on Dixie Highway on Wednesday.
Fans picked up tickets starting at 2 p.m., and then returned some four hours later to see Stewart.
"I am excited, this is, next to my husband, he is the man of my dreams," Sherry Morsey said.
"Considering I've been cooped up a long time, it's nice to see these guys," Stewart said. "We're not out at the track as much now, and don't get a chance to see them."
Stewart's racing season ended after he suffered a broken leg in an accident on August 5.
"Just had a doctors appointment today and they told me I can put weight on it now, so we're in the process still and it's healing really well," he said. "A couple of hiccups along the way but it's been really, really good and much faster than we all thought."
The Columbus, Indiana native says he'll be back behind the wheel in 2014.
"The conservative timeframe that the doctor was saying was at the end of January, beginning of February, and it looks like it's healing a little faster than that. We start our therapy on Monday and if everything goes well, we'll be right on time"
So expect him to take the green flag at Daytona next February.
"We're planning on being at Daytona ready to go."
