LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A multi-vehicle crash involving two semis closed Interstate 64 westbound in eastern Jefferson County for a time on Thursday.

At least five vehicles, two belonging to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, were involved in the accident which happened at 11:35 a.m. at the 22 mile marker.

According to Andrea Clifford, a KYTC spokesperson, a semi rear-ended a KYTC crash cushion truck, a vehicle designed to protect other crew vehicles. A second semi that was trying to avoid the first crash jackknifed and hit a KYTC pickup truck that was in front of the crash cushion truck.

Clifford said three KYTC workers were being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The right lane of I-64 at the crash site was reopened at 1:47 p.m.
