TDFN Preview Week 5

Posted: Updated:

(LOUISVILLE, KY) (WAVE) Week five of Touchdown Friday Night will serve as a litmus test for several area undefeated teams.

One of those match ups features undefeated 5A Bullitt East (4-0) traveling up I-65 to take on undefeated 6A Central Hardin (4-0). The Chargers came close, but lost to the Bruins 35-31 last season at home. They're looking forward to this year's rematch. "We took a lead with about a minute and a half left, and they drove it right back down the field and scored, and won it last year. I think the score was 35-31. It was a great football game, and we're looking forward to another great football game. I think it will be a lot of fun," said Bullitt East Head Coach, Darrell Vincent.

Probably the biggest surprise of all of the undefeated teams is 4-0 2A Christian Academy. The Centurions got everyone's attention when they upset 6A Eastern the second week of the season. Since then, CAL has outscored it's next two opponents by a combined score of 81-0. "We're playing well, guys are playing hard. They're executing what we're asking, they're executing, they're having fun out there, so they're buying into what we're trying to teach them"' said head coach, Stefan LeFors. Christian Academy takes on 1-3 Washington County this Friday night.

Christian Academy's district rival DeSales is also unbeaten and ranked #2 in the state. The Dragons are fresh off a 63-0 rout of Washington County last week. They host 2-2 Shawnee who have struggled to compete in year's past, but are an improved team. "Staying focused and the intensity that each player brings to the game. Each practice coach preaches and preaches about just keeping it intense and that's what we've been doing," said Colts senior Tanner Meffert. "We've stayed pretty focused, we're just taking one game at a time. They know our next opponent is going to be Shawnee. They understand that they are 2-2, we've talked to them about the amount of kids that they have in their program now, as compared to the last two or three years," said DeSales head coach Harold Davis.

You can catch all of the action on Touchdown Friday Night.
