INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WAVE) - An Indianapolis police officer has died after he was shot by a gunman who was then killed.
According to city police Lt. Christopher Bailey, the shooting happened around 2 Friday morning at an apartment complex on the city's northwest side.
Police were originally dispatched to a domestic disturbance. About 10 minutes later, reports that an officer had been shot in the head and chest came in.
Bailey said Officer Rod Bradway forced his way into an apartment after hearing a woman scream for help and was shot during a confrontation.
Bradway was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital where he died shortly after.
