LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man seeking help from police pulled up behind a police car while the officer was in the middle of an unrelated traffic stop on an expressway during rush hour on Friday afternoon.

The man told the officer his ex-girlfriend was chasing him from his place of work on Crittenden Drive in Louisville, Kentucky after she got into an argument with him and his new girlfriend in the parking lot, according to an arrest report.

Police gathered more information about the incident, as the man told them his ex-girlfriend—Delsheka Fitzgerald, 23—tried to hit him with a hammer before he got in his car and left work with his new girlfriend. He told the officer Fitzgerald followed them in her car onto the I-264 Watterson Expressway in south Louisville, weaving in and out of traffic and putting everyone at serious risk.

The arrest report indicates the victim stated his ex-girlfriend got in front of him while driving and tried to throw a brick at the car, but missed, leaving it in the roadway.

When the man stopped to ask police for help, Fitzgerald stopped, as well. The officer observed the suspect had another adult in her car along with two children under the age of three, according to the arrest report.

The officer arrested Fitzgerald, who is also known as Delsheka Williams, on the spot just before 5 p.m. and charged her with wanton endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, assault and a fourth violation not described on the report.
